    Happy Halloween from Nextdoor!

Today, neighborhoods around the country are getting ready to celebrate Halloween. Whether they are planning a block party, a pumpkin carving contest or getting their  candy ready for trick-or-treaters, come the end of the night, there’s a good chance they will have interacted with their neighbors in some way.

Since Halloween is such a neighborhood-centric holiday, we decided to conduct a survey that looks at the “State of the American Neighborhood this Halloween.”

What we discovered is that Halloween is still a fun, thriving neighborhood holiday across the U.S.

Some fun findings from the survey include:

    • The average American will spend $85 dollars on candy, costumes and decorations
    • 60% of parents will take their children trick-or-treating and pass out candy
    • One in three adults will don a costume
    • One in four people believe you are never too old for trick-or-treating
    • Most people believe that 13 is the magic age when a child becomes too old to trick-or-treat

Have a fun and safe Halloween!
